Custom Stencils:

Custom stencils offer a remarkable way to bring your artistic vision to life with accuracy and ease.

Whether you’re a professional artist, a hobbyist, or a business owner seeking consistent branding, tailored stencils can simplify the replication of intricate designs or lettering. Laser Alliance offers custom stencil cutting with laser using a variety of materials available, helping you make informed choices to suit any project.

Designing Your Custom Stencil

Creating a custom stencil starts with your artwork or text files. Vector-based formats are ideal because they allow clean, scalable outlines essential for precise cutting.

However, if you only have images or text files, these can usually be converted to suitable formats with expert assistance. Additionally, file preparation includes refining designs by adding necessary connectors, bridges or line breaks to ensure structural integrity when cutting the stencil.

If you wish to get started, simply email your designs to us, making sure to include sizing details such as the artwork dimensions or letter height. This information enables accurate estimates and optimal stencil production.

Choosing the Right Stencil Material

The choice of stencil material plays a crucial role in the stencil’s durability, flexibility, and detail. Here are the primary options:

Aluminum:
Aluminum stencils are more durable than plastics or paper. They can be cleaned and saved for future use. Depending on the details and stencil dimensions, thickness can range from 0.03 inch to 1/8 inch thick.

Stainless steel:
Stainless steel is a top choice if you need durable stencils that can be used over many applications. It’s easy to clean and save for future use.

Mylar:

This thin, flexible material excels when fine detail and tear resistance are needed. Offered in 5 mil, 7.5 mil, and 10 mil thicknesses, Mylar sheets go up to 24”x36” and accommodate delicate designs gracefully.

Polycarbonate:

This material is flexible and retains no shape memory. It means that stencils can be stored and reused. polycarbonate is available in thicknesses ranging from 0.10 inch to 1/8 inch thick.

Oil board:

A cost-effective alternative for shorter runs, oil board’s waxy surface repels paint, extending its life. At about 0.020″ inch (0.44 mm) thickness and up to 24”x36”, it’s ideal for modest stencil projects without sacrificing quality.

Corrugated Cardboard:
For budget-friendly, temporary use, cardboard is a simple choice. Its standard 0.157 inch (4 mm) thickness may limit spraying angles and wears out quickly, but it’s effective for a few stencil applications. Sheets come up to 96”x48”.
